Brigham Young University’s BYU Broadcasting Buys KUMT (107.9 The Mountain)/Salt Lake City, Preserving Classical On KBYU

BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY’s BYU BROADCASTING is buying Triple A KUMT (107.9 THE MOUNTAIN)/RANDOLPH-SALT LAKE CITY, UT from COMMUNITY WIRELESS OF PARK CITY, INC. and will move its Classical programming to that station. A price for the deal was not disclosed. BYU had previously planned to merge Classical KBYU-F (CLASSICAL 89)/PROVO-SALT LAKE CITY and its five translators with BYUradio, the channel the school programs on SIRIUSXM RADIO, moving the latter, with News-Talk and Classical, from KBYU-HD2 onto the main KBYU channel, but now will consolidate Classical programming on KBYU and the BYUradio programming on KUMT and its boosters in SALT LAKE CITY, BOUNTIFUL, OGDEN, and PROVO.

“We are delighted that we can now showcase our national radio product right here along the WASATCH FRONT,” said BYU BROADCASTING Managing Director MICHAEL DUNN. “And I am just thrilled for what this means to our thousands of ardent CLASSICAL 89 fans we have in this market. This acquisition is truly a win-win for all.”
